From travel writing to online music reviews to personal essays, Lauren's writing and photography have appeared in a variety of publications including National Geographic Traveler, Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, E - the Environmental Magazine, The Writer, Adbusters, THIS Magazine, NOW Magazine, BARK Magazine, rabble.ca, Herizons, the Georgia Straight, the Orillia Packet and Times and more. A member of the Professional Writers' Association of Canada, Lauren also wrote the Outdoors section for Moon Metro Toronto (Avalon Publishing, 2003). Currently, she is a regular contributor of features, profiles and department pieces about day-trip excursions, home renovations, local businesses, area restaurants and chefs and other topics to regional magazine Simcoe Life and continues to write freelance articles for various trade and consumer magazines, online publication and newspapers while also crafting both poetry and prose. A graduate in English and Cultural Studies from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Lauren worked as a telemarketer selling vacuum cleaners (for one day), a donut store clerk, a life-drawing model, a self-employed handicraft maker and in various other professions before finally realizing that all she is really any good at is writing. Editing is pretty fun, too.
